Runners - which marathon for a beginner?

I have run a half marathon 2 years ago but then slacked off a bit. I now run 8 miles regularly and want something to work towards so would like to try a marathon.

Could anyone suggest a good marathon for a first timer that is reasonably flat - hills are not my friends.

TIA

Amsterdam is a very fast flat course! Plus a friendly place to venture to abroad.

When you say fast..... what do you mean? Flat sounds good though! I guess Paris would be flat too...

How about in the uk? Any good flatish marathons here?

Leicester - autumntime, I think.

Edinburgh - May.

Blackpool (?) - just gone.

Paris, the only one I've done - April

Thanks Merle, so do you know how hilly or not the uk ones are? Edinburgh sounds hilly!

Edinburgh is known for being fast and flat. Apparently people do it to get a PB. I think likewise Leicester.

Have googled it and it comes up with Nottingham, Halstead (Essex), Bath and Cardiff.

Great thanks. Have just googled Edinburgh Marathon myself and it is pretty flat with an overall drop of 40m over the course. Sounds good to me!
Will check out Bath too as it's close by, buty can't imagine it will be flat having lived there for 4 years in my yoof!

Thanks
