What are the best exercises for losing stomach fat and for toning up your stomach?

I am losing weight but I need to start trying to tone my stomach so it gets somewhere near flat.

Also how do you get rid of the overhang?

Thanks

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but you can't spot reduce you just have to continue to try and loose weight and hope it goes from your stomach. Also as fat sits on top of muscle (well the fat you want to get rid of) you can 'tone' as much as you like but it won't make much of a difference until the fat goes. I say much of a difference because doing any sort of core work should improve your posture which can make a difference to how you look in clothes etc.

I am not a post-natal expert but have you tried circuit training? A good circuit class should contain both CV and resistance work.

It has to be things I can do at home as I can't really afford classes and I will have to get someone to have the boys.

How about 10 star jumps followed by 10 push ups followed by 10 burpees followed by 10 tricep dips i.e. you can create your own circuit at home.

If you are looking for DVD recommendations sorry I can't help you as I don't use any.

Could you afford to buy a fitness dvd? there are some very good ones you could do.

I have a few dvds but they get a bit boring when I do them every other day.

Libra, I will give that circuit a try today. I'll also google and see if I can find circuits at home.

cardio, cardio and more cardio sadly.

Something like a Davina DVD, which does interval training (so cardio interspersed with weights) is ideal as will burn fat and tone up the muscles underneath the fat.

The best cardio I found for shifting weight around my midriff was running combined with resistance work.

Good luck.

P.s. trying doing the plank and side plank also - for up to a minute hold in each - will really see results as helps correct your posture and hold your tummy in..

I have the Davina box set but I haven't used it yet. I got it in the sales so will put that on in a minute.

I was going to be taking up running but with all the snow around I haven't been able to get out. It is driving me mad.
