5k on the treadmill

i have done a few 5k runs on the treadmill at the gym, in about 25 mins, after a spin class. i know this isnt the same as running on the road, so how far do you think i will manage on the road without dying? this is my first go at running, i would like to do 10k comfortably. any ideas?

road running is toughter as there's more ups and downs, with driveways, kerbs etc - but it's not as boring as treadmill. i think if you start your run slowly and then increase to a steady past after 10 mins, followed by short bursts of interval training, you should be able to be able to increase by a mile each week. how often do you run? and do you vary with other cardio?

run on treadmill 3x per week. always spinning class 4xper week. a mile a week huh/ that sounds good :0

I think whether road running is more or less difficult depends on how you set the incline of the treadmill. I set it at 1.5 and find running on the flat ground outside is a bit easier. I guess I have to pay more attention to fancy foot work to go round parked cars, people, up the curbs, etc.
