ok lasses i need to pick your brains...

i got to week 6 on the couch to 5k, not too much of a problem, but ive had a terrible cold and then got bronchitis - so ive not been able to run, by the end of this week it will be 2 weeks ive missed. im still not well so doubt ill be running next week, im on ABs.

how should i get back into it? do i have to go back a few weeks? should i start from week 6 which is where i left off? im so fed up! i was doing really well with it and i was determined not to miss a week as i thought it would set me back, but this really hasnt been an option - cant run if you cant breathe!

how should i begin again?

Start off slow and see how you are, I hurt my ankle and had to stop for a few weeks after starting but was able to go back to where I was before very quickly. Make sure you are fully recovered though.

I was doing 5k in about 35 mins while I was pg with DS (only about the first 4 months!) then after he was born, when I was ready to start again (think he was about 4 months) I just started with whichever week happened to be on my mum's MP3 player cause I was down there! It was week 4 and I found it quite easy (but hadn't been ill!)

I would suggest dropping back a couple of weeks and see how you get on, you can always go further back or just do each week once if you find it easy enough.

Good luck!

Happened to me at 5 weeks into Couch Potato - I had two weeks off and started back on Wk 3 which was about right. Was very annoying but I still made it to 5k in 13 weeks so don't despair.

i haven't done the prog but should think that trying the easiest of the runs for the week you left off is a sensible place to start.

of course stop or scale back if that feels bad but you are likely to have made more progress from 4-6 weeks than you've missed from 6-8.

righto....i wont try a run until ive finished ABs and i got them for 14 days, so think ill be a bit rusty.

ill maybe start back on week 4. i found week 5 really jumped to the 20 min run. i had managed that without a problem, week 6 i had found quite hard anyway so i think ill drop it back a bit and see how i go. thanks ladies, im just so pissed off that i got ill! i was feeling so good about it and i was so determined! i think it will be hard to start again but ill do it, needs must! ive got a fitness test to pass!
