5 weeks ago i had a lovely new pair of running shoes...

ive run, without fail, 3 times a week come rain hail or shine.

you can imagine what my lovely white trainers now look like cant you!

how do you clean them? do you bother? do i just think "ah well - it shows how well i am doing!" and ignore the fact that they are completely manky!
(they dont smell - they are just mud splattered)

need to know what all you proper running types do.
im on week 5 couch to 5k....

I put mine in the washing machine - but not too frequently.

Another washing machine user here, they will rot if they don't get completely dry regularly.

You could just sponge them clean, though, I suspect, that would be better unless they are minging.

I also put through the WM, but accept the adhesive will start to go a bit, usually right at the toe where that annoying bit starts to peel back.
YOu've only gone out in them 15 times though. 15 x 5 (guess?) = 75 miles. I'm sure you could give them a wash at this frrequency, but they would only get 3 or 4 washes before they fall to bits anyway from wear at that rate.

Above wsas incoherent as I was dragged out half way, but I think the message is clear

catinthehat2 · 29/11/2009 19:12

crikey, I wish people would leave me alone for 30 seconds

"Above was incoherent as I was dragged out half way, but I would aim for 3 or 4 washes max over the lifetime of my trainers at which point the soles and uppers would be dead, and it wouldn't matter if the washing machine destroyed the adhesive"

so ill make them do a few more miles before i wash them then! thanks - i didnt know if they would survive the WM but when they really need it ill chuck them in the washer.
