What kind of dance classes would you recommend?

For someone (eg me) who wants to get properly fit? I'd like to try many kinds, like the idea of ballet, tap, or ballroom style stuff but I am on a weight loss kick and I only want to spend time doing stuff that will really make a difference fitness-wise. Time and money are lacking and I want to maximise my fitness....

any ideas? TIA.

Tap can be a good cardio workout and has the benefit of being something that doesn't require a lot of flexibility if you don't have a background in dance. Lots of places do adult tap classes.

If you can find a street dance or jazz class they tend to be pretty fast paced and energetic.

Have you done dance before?

I did ballet as a child but that's it really. Didn't do it for that long but I loved it. I will look into Tap and Jazz - hadn't even heard of Jazz dance, so wouldn't have thought of that, thanks.
