Just started training for 10k, was at gym today and I noticed my trainers have split at the side they are rather old anyway but now I need new ones. Usually I just go for what looks nice but I figure I should get some ones that will support when running? I have no idea where to start - any advice at all welcome.

is there a running shop near you? If you are planning to run you wo0uld be best to get professionally fitted trainers.

The one I went to had a tread mill and they film you running to work out your gait then fit your trainers for you with special insoles if necessary.

Not cheap but worth it in terms of blisters!

asics are good running shoes

Ooh I'll be interested in this thread as I want to back to running for the Race for Life run later this summer. My trainers are all worn and I could do with some new ones.
