Help me translate the gym timetable (Virgin Active)

So I'm back to work next week and am planning to take advantage of having lunchtimes without an 11mo flinging pasta at me by going to the gym (a Virgin one)!

Anyway, I'm trying to understand what some of the classes are:

  • Powerplate: only 20 mins long so sounds ideal for lunch but absolutely no clue what it is. Does it get rid of Post-Baby Wobbly Bits (TM)?
  • V-Cycle: is this like spinning?
  • Ab Attack: is this as violent as it sounds?

Any other classes you'd recommend?

Ta!

You are correct HQ, V-Cycle is like spinning. Powerplate is a new gimicky thing made popular by celebs in the US. Bit too gimicky for my liking personally but some people love it.
Ab Attack will probably be a class that only works that one muscle group. If you are fairly new to exercise and carrying 'post-baby wobbly bits then I would suggest you give this class a miss for now.
A circuit class would be good.
Also, don't forget the good old lunchtime walk! Get outside and pound away the stress of the morning in the office while burning some calories and getting fresh air. When you're ready, make that walk a run perhaps.

Can someone recommend a good instructor at the gym to write a programme for you?

When you#ve tried powerplate let me know what it's like as I've been to scared so far.

What I meant was;

When you've tried Powerplate let me know what it's like; I've been too scared to try it!

thanks mckenzie. ah i love a gimmick - joining the gym is in itself a bit of a gimmick for me. so i might attend one powerplate class and then never return! the v-cycle sounds good though. might do mainly body pump as i used to really enjoy that, and then try a couple of these others and see what suits.

good idea about the walk - there is a big rec near the office so ideal for walks and later runs.

lynette (you're my favourite housewife!) - i'll let you know how powerplate is if i'm still alive and capable of typing after.

bought sports bra today, off to join tomorrow. eeek!
