calling all evening / night-time runners?

I was driving home last night at about 9pm and saw lots of runners on my route and not one of them was wearing proper reflective clothing. Please, if you don't already, get yourself a cheap bib to wear over your gear or wear a top or leggings with reflective patches/strips. For your own safety and also to give the drivers a better chance to see you.

Were they running on the road or pavement? I must admit I tend to run during the daytime but I also have run at night (on pavements) without reflective gear on and wondered whether this was unhelpful to drivers. I have told myself not really as drivers are not so concerned about pavements as roads! If I was running on road and on unlit routes at that I would definitely wear reflective clothing as well as a head torch (and just feel very silly but at least a bit safer!)

Mainly on the pavements WonTon but unless you have no roads to cross at all (unlikely) then really you need to make yourself more visible. Sorry if I sound like I am lecturing. But even if you are going to be crossing minor side roads, drivers need to be able to see you clearly. I speak as a runner as well as a driver.

I suppose many runners dash across roads but I am quite cautious and do not assume right of way crossing roads and also live in a well lit area. But I do hear what you are saying and will dress accordingly next time I am out!
