Gyms in Edinburgh: any recommendations?

Considering re-joining a gym after 1.5 years of slobbishness, but the landscape of Edinburgh gyms has changed. Anyone really happy with theirs and want to recommend it?

Back in the distant pre-baby past I was a member at Holmes Place Omni centre -- it was great, near my office, but it's really expensive, and now it's been taken over by Virgin I note lots of negative reviews on websites. Plus, it's not family-friendly, although they say members can also use the other Virgin gym in town which has a creche.

I had also heard good things about the one down at Newhaven, which was very family-friendly; but recently a friend told me it had changed hands too, and the creche was now in a cramped inappropriate room with no proper handwashing facilities . She was considering leaving because of this.

Help please -- I need the motivation of a gym to make me exercise, otherwise I'll just slob around the park twice and give up...

The David Lloyd gyms are great, there's one in Leith and one in Corstorphine. The great thing is they have outdoor heated pools.

Dont you have a JJB near you. The prices as reasonable and classes are included in the price.
