WTF is the elephant?

(3 years of pilates here)

TheGoat · 29/11/2008 10:23

i am sure it is the elephant. you start off kneeling then push up in to a v shape with hands and feet firmly on the floor (acutally typing this i think it might also be called the dog)

Not sure which pose you are talking about.

'Eyeballs poping out' sounds like straining. Are you maintaining proper breath control while you do it?

SOmebody with more knowledge than me may be around at some point.

That sounds like down dog to me.

To really help you someone needs to see you in the pose.

How long have you been doing this pose? Down dog can feel very strange to start off with and you can only do it for short periods and have to gradually lengthen the time spent in the pose.

With this pose you also need to ensure that 'stomach muscles' are supporting you. Also you may have your weight too far forward. The aim is to have your weight evenly distributed between your legs and arms.

This is supposed to be a rest pose!!!

yes it is the dog. i think it is the resting part that really bugs me. anthing that involves my head down is really uncomfortable. thanks elk will ask my teacher next week.
