Should I get an X-ray?

Did 15km on Monday evening woke up on Tuesday with pain in my left foot, seems to be centered on the fifth metatarsal but there is no bruising. I put some diclofenac patches on it but they have not given much relief.
I normally wear Hoka speed goats but I got some new ON shoes at the weekend and this was my first longer run in them. They are squishier than my old shoes so is it possible the muscles in my foot are a little more tired and cramped than usual? Or could I have broken a bone? I could get an x-ray or MRI relatively quickly at the local hospital, unless people think a break is unlikely. I am only 43 and do around 25-35km per week so I would think my feet are fairly strong and not overworked.

I’d take it to a physio first, find one that’s a runner too.

I have been rolling it on a tennis ball under my desk and I think that has relieved it a little.

If you have a stress fracture an X-ray prob won’t show it, you’d need an mri.

Nothing in your post indicates that an X-ray is medically necessary and no-one qualified will refer you for one without a physical examination.

By all means see a GP or go to the hospital but you can't be in the UK if you can go see about getting an X-ray fairly quickly at a hospital in a non emergency situation.

You are right, I am in China, the attitude to scans and testing is a bit different.
I will give it another day of rest see how it goes
