Bad posture/Haunched shoulders

Hi, I am a total beginner at exercise, however I really want to get into it and tone up. I also have terrible posture and shoulders that are rounded and usually up by my ears! (Stress.) Could you recommend any exercises, or YouTube vids of exercises to help straighten me out?

Pilates will help with posture but you need to do it long-term. It’s best to start off with classes so you get the basics right before trying to do it on your own.

Thank you so so much for your advice. I should have stipulated I need to be able to do the exercises at home as I'm housebound. I really appreciate your taking time to reply though. 😀

Sorry to hear that! I wonder if it’s possible to find someone to do a few 1-2-1 sessions with you online (appreciate that’s more expensive though)

Im sure they’ll be loads of YouTube videos but peloton have a lot of Pilates/yoga classes. It is a costly subscription though! But there is a lot of strength, meditation etc classes on there too.

Hi - I am definitely not an expert, but have recently got into Yoga with Adriene on YouTube - she has done tons of lovely gentle yoga videos and I'm finding them to be brilliant re: posture, as I also have terrible posture with my shoulders! I am finding myself starting to repeat some of her phrases and movements during the day and it's really helping. Might be worth a try- start with some of the morning yoga session videos as they're good for stretching out and getting your body going in the mornings!

I came here to recommend Yoga with Adrienne! Also love her classes. I do weights usually but in winter when its harder to motivate myself I always turn to her classes, or if I have had a stressful week and need a little de-stress. She has a class for everything.
