Pilates roll ups

Inspired by the ongoing push up thread how easily can people do a proper Pilates roll up I.e not using momentum to get you up. In my Pilates class it always seems to be the men that struggle with it more than women , obviously a very small sample size. I certainly find them a lot easier than push ups

I can, as slow as you like - it’s one of my fortes, though wasn’t always the way and takes practice.

I can. It’s taken me a while to master it.

Yes but it took a while to get there - holding a yoga block in both hands helped me when I couldn’t do it as the weight helped get me up and focus me - now I love it

Good tip with yoga block, I’ll have to try it. I still can’t do it consistently or with keeping my feet firmly on the ground, sometimes they lift a bit. But I’m getting there and sometimes it’s perfect!

Remember is called practice for that very reason ! If not a block then a Pilates ball but something like that works very well !

I couldn’t do it very well before starting regular Pilates but now have no trouble an extra challenge is to bend your knees and have feet

flat on the floor which our very mean( lovely really) teacher throws in sometimes

I:been doing pilates for 7 years and still can't do it - even worse at rollover 😳

TheOliveFinch · 06/07/2026 17:41

I can do a rollover but hate it due to the size of my boobs , however my hip mobility is still awful for forward folds
