Im 32, F, two kids under 5, work 4 days a week, don’t drink much, maybe once a week, glass of wine, eat a lot of protein, try to drink enough water, getting okay sleep recently. I strength train 3 x a week and trying to fit runs in between - 1-3 a week. I am EXHAUSTED. Im torn between is tbis normal or is there something wrong with me. Been the gym this morning, come home and I could actually fall asleep. I’ve been training consistently for about 3 months. Im 8 stone 9 lbs, 5 ft 4, so my weight is fine. Is it just normal to feel so tired all the time when so busy ?

You'll probably be told to eat more (carbs?) after training. It might be good advice! I try to follow it but I still sometimes need a sleep after training. Im more than twice your age but I also keep wondering "if I exercised more would i get fitter and find it less tiring? Or would I just feel even more knackered?? 😂😭😭

So no advice, im sorry!

I eat quite a lot of carbs so I don’t think it’s that. I was expecting to feel more energetic getting healthier, I think it’s having the opposite effect haha

@Mum7644885 Have you had your iron checked lately?

I'm older than you but felt the same way, turned out my iron levels were on the floor.

I'm 4 weeks into a 3 month course of iron and beginning to feel far more energetic and like myself.

Go to the gp and get your thyroid levels checked (simple blood test), i got diagnosed with hishimotos (sp?), which is an autoimmune version of hypothyroidism when i was 32. Simple fix of 1 pill every morning, and a blood test each year to check its still the right dose. Other signs could be irregular periods, feeling cold etc.

I have a similar lifestyle and I’m constantly exhausted, could sleep for 20 hours a day easily.

Get your iron levels checked

Ask for a blood test, mine was b12 deficiency.i saw the dr at least 3 times before they tested for it.

I have thought about a blood test but getting a GP appointment is so difficult i get put off even trying, I will do it though, it’s worth knowing for sure

Please do.i went to the dr tired,he just said you are a mum with a busy life etc,ok off i went came back did blood tests nothing, went back a final time.i said i was now feeling like i am about 80,and having to nap in the day soon as work finished, and he finally tested for b12.my body does not absorb b12 in tablets,so I have a injection of b12 every 3 months in my arm.it made me feel normal and not tired anymore.persevere xx

Your life sounds very normal, nothing that should leave you so exhausted. I would definitely get some bloods done.

3 x strength training, 3 x runs and 4 days work is quite a lot to fit in around 2 small kids. How much quality sleep are you getting?

Im actually getting decent sleep recently, its of course not always like that with two little ones, but recently Ive been falling asleep at about 10- waking at 6am, I am actually getting enough sleep, thats one of the reasons I think it’s weird. I barely slept for the first 3 years with my first, so that made sense to feel so exhausted but not now

This is interesting, I’ve known a few people to be low in B12. I have considered paying for a test but don’t know what ones are good and dont want to waste my money

Boots and Lloyd's Pharmacy both do some blood tests but I've heard good things about Thriva on here and FB groups.

Stop running and see how you feel just strength training. Personally I think you are doing too much and are burning yourself out. You need rest days! I am much, much older than you, don’t run but feel energised after my very intensive weight sessions.
