Return of a knee injury - devastated

I had patella femoral pain syndrome 2 years ago. It took over a year to make a break through with my physio (mainly due to it taking a while to find the right physio) and feel proper improvements. I was back being really active and loving life but the pain has returned this past week and I am devastated. Has anyone else dealt with this or a similar situation? How do you cope with not being able to do your normal exercise/movement? I am seeing my physio next week but really struggling after feeling I’d seen the back of this.

I have no advice but just to say I totally understand your devastation. I’ve had a few injuries over the years and live in constant fear and panic of every twinge. Everything feels out of control when you’re injured, like your body hates you. And not being able to be active is dreadful. I hope you manage to get through it.

I used to love running but I’ve developed some stress incontinence and really cant run anymore because of that… it was really hard to accept. I tried swimming instead, hated it, i tried tennis, same problem as running: impact= wet, i tried a few other things and i was deeling so down about not running, it was hard to enjoy anything.
one day a friend invited me to her hot yoga studio and i became hooked! Im waiting for my 7am class now! I cant get enough of it…
what i am saying is try to find an alternative activity that is less demanding on your knees

That’s so frustrating after all the hard work you put in. Try not to lose hope though flare-ups can happen, and it doesn’t mean you’re back at the start. Hopefully your physio can help get things under control quickly.
