Clothes for flabby gym newbie?

I have signed up for a gym. Massively out of shape at 60. Haven’t done exercise apart from walking in a long time and am not body confident at all so can’t do shorts and bra tops but I know I’m going to get so hot.

I’ll wear leggings and have a few decent pairs but what tops do people wear? I looked online and gym stuff all seems to be fitted vests and tight little tops. I’m a 14 with huge boobs and used to wearing loose things. With upper arms covered a bit.

Any recommendations for a site with loose and airy tops? Just want to feel confident and comfortable!

Souluxe at Matalan do longline sports tops . I've worn these to the gym , very comfortable and not too expensive.

Anything you feel comfy in training in. Chuck a big t-shirt over a vest top and sports top. You can strip off as you go round. In my experience no one cares what anyone else is wearing at the gym as long as they can move and use the equipment. I've seen people training in work clothes and jeans??? If people aren't red faced and sweaty they're probably not working hard enough.

I tend to wear a looseish racer back running top. Not too hot but not too tight or revealing. My gym and running clothes are quite interchangeable and so I’m often pretty day glow. No one really cares what you look like.

Thanks all. I’m not normally someone who cares too much but I know I’ll feel better if I feel right. True about people not really caring. I have the same thought every time I get in my swimming costume and feel awful then get to the pool and realise nobody cares!

There’s a Matalan in town so am off to check it out.

Maybe look at getting men’s t shirts or vests as they are straight up and down rather than fitted. It is worth getting good sports bras to reduce the jiggling up top.

I mostly just wear ordinary baggy, t shirts or vests which my adult DSs no longer want.

It is understandable to feel a bit nervous that everyone will be judging you for not being super skinny and fit and in a teeny crop top/ shorts combo, but honestly, nobody will care what you look like or what you are wearing.

Enjoy getting strong!

I just wear cotton T-shirts or active wear style T-shirts from Next. Long enough to cover my tummy and come to my elbows in the sleeves.
