Nice running shorts that arent super short?

I like to run in shorts, I wear leggings for only 1-2 weeeks a year if I absolutely have to, winter 25-26 was no leggings at all. However, I am not super tiny and I need a wider, loose leg for my thighs/bum. I currently wear Gymshark ones that fit perfectly and look lovely but I bought them on vinted and they look tatty now.

I don’t like the cycle shirts underneath style, l like just a short (with netting?), I’m not fussed about pockets or specific colours, I do like a drawstring (but even then that’s fixable as I can adjust elastic if needs be. But the problem is length. My current ones are around 12 in waist to hem. All others I see (on vinted) are much shorter. I’m happy yo
buy new, but don’t know what to look for.

any recommendations? I also have tried mens ones but the cut is totally wrong for my shape

I have similar ones to these and they’re both very short on me and I don’t get any rubbing or anything. Nice and soft with big pockets. I tend to use mine for racing.

I also have some happystride ones I really like. They have floaty tops and bike shorts underneath.

Ah sorry, I should have specified that I want loose shorts not cycling shorts/ Lycra . I thought for one glorious moment you had found my original Gymshark. they don’t make them anymore and i think I’ve bought up every suitable pair on vinted over the years

I will look at happy stride, never heard of those. Do you find the inner shorts ride up when you’re running though? This is what’s always put me off those style ones

@thenewaveragebear1983 i personally don’t. But I’m not very big of thigh and don’t know if they would if you were a bit bigger. Though a running friend of mine is more pear shaped than me and she also loves hers so may well be fine.

Running brands are getting better for this and most now offer a 5in inseam, as well as the more standard 3in. Have a look at Brooks, Asics and Ron Hill.

I buy men's. Specifically, I buy them in charity shops. Men's swim "trunks" (typically net support and pockets) are perfect for running in (I find).

@thenewaveragebear1983 I think they are true to size. They have an inner band of elastic in the waistband which keeps them snug but comfortable, but I think you'd have to try to see if they work for you... Good luck with the search!

I have a pair of trail running ones from Decathlon. I love them, nice length and because they are specifically for running they have waist pockets for my phone etc. Inexpensive as well.

I just got a pair of the happy stride classic ones on Vinted and love them. They have the inner cycle short with a phone pocket, which I need because I can’t stand it jiggling in a zip pocket.
they didn’t ride up at all one the first couple of runs, really comfy and well made. They are expensive new but currently 25% off and I’m going to buy more.

Look at the parkrun Contra brand on the parkrun website.

I like sweaty Betty explorer - 5" length. Or mens shorts are often looser and longer. I have some cheap under armour ones I just picked up at my gym.

Ronhill used to do a fantastic 7 inch women's running shorts style, you can still pick them up here and there although sizes are limited.
