Best home kit for someone starting out

After a few years of swimming a couple of times a week I have decided I need to do more exercise and more variation. I have started going to the gym but what with work and kids I dont always have the time.

I work at home 2 days a week and sometimes have an hour before I have to start work so am thinking of maybe getting some equipment. As a 54 year old woman I am thinking some small weights/resistance bands would be best to help build bone density. Be great to get some advice as to is this the best plan. Thanks

I would just get a decent exercise mat, start with bodyweight workouts (so many to choose from on YouTube, personally I like Madfit). Then gradually buy weights as you get into it.

What size weights you buy will depend largely on how strong you are to start with. I use 4kg weights for some exercises, 3kg for others and occasionally 1.5kg. I'm aiming to work up to bigger weights. But when you start it's important not to sacrifice form by using weights that are too heavy for you.

Resistance bands are also useful.

Maybe pick a coupleof youtubers you want to follow and they will have some equipment requirements.
i am following one that uses a swiss ball and a mat, the other one uses a mat and some dumbells. Nothing else is required.
