Training for a 5km swim -breaststroke

I've signed up for a 5km lake swim in May.

I've looked for a training program but I'll be doing breaststroke as that's what I always do and everything I've found so far is for front crawl.

Does the stroke any difference?

I've swum 3km before. I generally swim 2km twice a week but I'm currently building that back up again as I've injured my shoulder.

I reckon if you've got the technique right for breaststroke open water swimming, you could use the distances for the front crawl training plans - tho I'm assuming here it is a mixture of distance/speed/legs/arms training plans, an not focusing on breathing rhythms training!

I’d recommend you get some teaching / coaching on freestyle. 5km breaststroke is going to be painful on knees for that length of time and distance
