Trainers for Hyrox/half marathon?

Hi, I was wondering if there are any Mumsnetters who do Hyrox, and if so - please may I have some recommendations for trainers?

I do Hyrox based sessions at the gym, and have also signed up for my first half marathon next year - I was hoping to find a pair of trainers that could do both? Or is that wishful thinking? I would like to sign up next year for a Hyrox event, or possibly one of those Hybrid Games, we’ll see.

Thank you in advance for any suggestions 🙂

I did a Hyrox last year and had crossfit/hybrid shoes (inov8 F-lite). My coach advised this as although I had some experience as a runner, the strength events were new to me, he said have the shoes that help with your challenges. These - https://www.sportsshoes.com/product/ino2439/inov8-f-lite-women's-training-shoes-(wide-fit)---aw25?cur=GBP&utmmsource=google&utmmedium=cpc&utmmcampaign=UKPMaxxInov8&utmid=18029380961&gaddsource=1&gadcampaignid=18023659627&gbraid=0AAAAADmFRfbcU6FeNOPqdgFluYJ3EpnNB&gclid=CjwKCAjwr8LHBhBKEiwAy47uUs1l5xC7uf3blRUYAaEvWGjLRYCAmQilKbFKNQ6U5UqKEcDnCIWEshoC8kQQAvDD_BwE

If you're more familiar with strength events then running shoes would be better. I'd say you definitely want running shoes not hybrid shoes for a half marathon, you want more padding.

Good luck with the events!

I’ve not done hyrox but if you should have trainers like those in the link I probably wouldn’t want to run a half marathon in them.

any reasonable running shoes that suit your feet will work for a half marathon. The more cushioned shoes probably wouldn’t be much good for doing both but something like brooks ghost or Saucony rides might work. Best to go to a running shop and try on a few pairs and see if there’s anything you think would work for you for both as everyone has different preferences for shoes.

Thank you so much for your advice. I agree - I’ll go to a running shop and try some shoes out, but I’m definitely interested in those in the link above. Thanks again 🙂

Those inov8s aren't suitable for a half marathon.
I like inov8 for fell/trail shoes but a) they are not known for road running shoes and b) even if they were, those are not running shoes!

You need a neutral cushioned running shoe - usually can't go wrong with Brooks, Nike or Asics. The models that have been around for years (eg Ghost, Pegasus) are classics for a reason.

I’ve done multiple half’s and hyrox’s! personally for half’s I like a shoe with lots of cushion (on running, some asics) however for hyrox I find I need a more stable shoe for wall balls, sled etc and often if they’re quite cushioned they don’t work the best.
For hyrox I’ve worn saucony endorphin pro’s and puma velocity nitro (can’t quite remember the name!) they have decent cushioning for the running my and are stable enough for the stations :)

Thank you for the last two posts - I now know I will be buying two different pairs of trainers. I’ll buy the Hyrox-suitable trainers now, and will splurge on some pretty decent running trainers after the New Year. The half marathon isn’t until September 2026 (Great North Run) so I’ve plenty of time to get those.

Thank you again to all of you who have posted here.

I do HYROX and half marathons and wear Brooks Adrenaline for both

idontevenknowanyonecalledblurb · 25/10/2025 11:54

I hyrox and wear the puma deviate elites. Have had no issues with them

Glitterbaby17 · 25/10/2025 20:55

I do HYROX and swear by Hoka Mach 6s

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 25/10/2025 22:11

I started Hyrox /Crossfit type training in Brooks Adrenaline, but found them too unstable as my weights got heavier.

I now use Under Armour Warp shoes for training now (these have been replaced by the Reign range). I’d have Nike Metcons if my feet weren’t so wide.

I run in Hoka Skyflows and Brookes Adrenaline.
