Started this again today (have completed it a few times over the years!). Anyone else beginning it so we can cheer each other on?

So so proud of you @TomCat24 massive well done!! Mad how it doesnt take many weeks to actually go from not running at all to running many km's!!

Week 7 run 2 done. 25 minute run, 4.2km. Ive found writing it on here actually encourages me to do my next run as I can see my progress through my posts.

beguilingeyes · 14/02/2026 19:16

Valentines Parkrun was nuts. An estimated 2500 people including Dame Kelly Holmes People from Dublin and coach parties, and we had to queue up for 20 minutes to get to the finish funnel.

You girls are an inspiration! @ILoveCatsAndKittens I bought the watch some years ago just to count steps - never actually used the "Activities" feature before. I'm really pleased because that will allow me to track my progress. I ran W7D2 today and tried it out: 2.77k (I'm veeery slow, but it's so hard). So to continue for 5k I'd probably have to run another 25 minutes (not happening! haha). This is already a huge achievement for me though, so I'm fine with it. I'll just continue on after week 9, adding on a couple of minutes each week. Eventually I'll get there.

Well done @SoftIce!!

SoftIce · 17/02/2026 15:43

Thanks @TomCat24 ! Week 7 done today, and I managed 3.00k, so a bit more than last time. It is snowing heavily. Perhaps subconsciously that made me run a bit faster.

Well done! Snow??!! Oh wow!

Ive not managed to get pit this week as its half term and I have my young son. By the time its nighttime, im too tired! I dont like running at night either, would much rather get it out of the way and done with in the morning. I am also full of cold so wouldn't have been a great week to run anyway. I just need to get back to it ASAP, should be able to get a run in on Saturday.

It looks like everyone is progressing well, loving our motivation for each other, its so inspiring!

SoftIce · 19/02/2026 15:14

@ILoveCatsAndKittens I hear what you are saying, personally I think daytime, sun and snow (cold weather) is the best. Don't worry about the break, I'm sure it'll be fine!

I ran W8D1 today and it was hard - this inner voice is constantly telling me to "just walk, it doesn't matter" and the only reason I'm able to resist it at the moment is the app. I know I would make myself repeat the day if I didn't run according to plan so I may as well push through. I hope I'll be able to keep it up when the programme is finished!

The odd thing is that when the run is done and I start walking I'm back to "normal" basically within 30 seconds so I'm definitely getting fitter.

TomCat24 · 19/02/2026 15:27

@SoftIceI did the same run this morning. Could have written your post exactly. The last few minutes were awful and then a couple of minutes after o stopped I felt fine! Also happened to ‘coincidentally’ finish by our local cafe so rewarded myself with a latte and croissant for the 5 minute cold down 😂

ILoveCatsAndKittens · 23/02/2026 11:18

Week 8 run 1 done. I haven't run for 10 days and have had a cold so todays run did feel tough, but I managed to completed it. 28 minutes, 4.5k.

I've just realised that I missed run 3 of week 7, oops!

Haggisfish3 · 23/02/2026 13:29

Well done!! Keep going. Think how far you’ve come-I am still astonished I can run as far as i can!!

SoftIce · 23/02/2026 14:11

Sounds like you are bang on target @ILoveCatsAndKittens !

I did W8D2 on Saturday and nearly cried during the last minute, it was hard. So for W8D3 I slowed down a lot (added a full minute to my pace) and that actually went well. I think I can run Week 9 at that pace but not faster.

HayceeDeeCee · 23/02/2026 22:36

Week 6 run 1 done tonight. Have fallen behind a bit as I started with a running club but missed 2 weeks at the beginning of Feb so I am now out of sync with them but bumbling along under my own steam.

Despite doing the 20 min run last week fairly ok, I struggled with the 5/8/5 mins tonight, really found it hard. My knees hurt and my asthma decided to make an appearance after weeks of improvement.

I'll keep at it though.

ILoveCatsAndKittens · 24/02/2026 08:53

@HayceeDeeCee well done for keeping on going!

Week 8 run 2 done, slowed right down today as my knee was hurting. 28 minutes, just over 4k. Found it very hard.

FunMum2019 · 24/02/2026 21:55

Everyone is doing so well!! I got all ready, did my warm up, and went outside to realise it was insanely hot and sunny. Total fail, came back in to avoid a headache and did some strength instead. Will try again tomorrow!!

W9D1 done. I'm rather jealous @FunMum2019 that you have such nice weather, here it is raining now!

ILoveCatsAndKittens · 27/02/2026 09:58

W8 R3 done, 28 mins 4.5 k. Really really could not be bothered this morning but actually really enjoyed it once into it! Did a slightly different route which worked well and will prob do this again next week.

Nice to go out in just a t shirt today, no jacket. Good luck to all runners over the weekend!

BetterOffNow · 27/02/2026 10:08

I've really lost the plot with this, finished week 8 then haven't run for weeks! Went out for a 20 min run on Wednesday and everything hurt... going to start again next week from week 5 I think...

SoftIce · 27/02/2026 14:56

W9D2: Done! Getting a little excited here. 😅

SoftIce · 27/02/2026 14:57

@BetterOffNow I think this will happen to me after C25K if I don't find an App to continue with after!

Greyandproud · 27/02/2026 17:04

@SoftIce, I finished the program at Christmas. At my glacial pace, I am a long way to achieve 5k in a time which would be socially acceptable for parkrun. When you have completed the program on the app there are ‘graduate runs’ concentrating on stamina/speed etc. I am still listening as I stagger along. It’s slow progress (literally 😁) but I just managed 4.8km in 40mins.

SoftIce · 28/02/2026 08:41

@Greyandproud Well done!! That actually sounds perfect. I'm very slow right now (running ~3.5k in 30 minutes - on a good day) and definitely want to continue to "real" 5k.

Lalgarh · 28/02/2026 10:58

Did a park run this morning. Raining. Muddy. Walked most of it. At one point my toes went numb

Lower limbs and trainers Caked in mud. Now eating cake and tea

My parkrun time this morning was 46 minutes. The tail walker was at 58 minutes.
We did Battersea for the first time. crazy busy. Over 1000 people.

Lalgarh · 28/02/2026 12:54

I'm over the 50 minutes mark

SoftIce · 02/03/2026 07:00

I finished W9D3 yesterday - 3.5k. It was great! I also discovered that my app has a "5k to 10k" programme, so I'm going to continue with that. Like C25K it is time-based, not distance-based, so it won't get me to 10k but it will get me across 5k for sure (it goes up to 60 minute runs).
