Started this again today (have completed it a few times over the years!). Anyone else beginning it so we can cheer each other on?

I forgot I was on this thread!
I didn’t run for a couple of weeks, been back at it this week and I’m doing week 4 run 1 today.
pray for me 😂

Buntyforgirls · 12/05/2026 19:45

Thanks @SoftIce, that is reasurring.
My run today was a 2km walk / run around the park.

Buntyforgirls · 12/05/2026 19:48

How did it go @JustSayingReally ?
I am just finishing week4, although I might add an extra week- not sure I'm ready to move on to more than 5 minutes , if that is to come next.

JustSayingReally · 12/05/2026 21:22

@Buntyforgirls I managed it but I did find it tough. Running for 4 minutes is a massive improvement for me from when I started I was out of breath after a minute at the beginning.
I’ll see how I feel at the end of week 4 and if it’s still hard I might repeat it again

Buntyforgirls · 13/05/2026 22:04

Yes, I think I will repeat a form of week 4, too. I only run twice a week, alongside other activities, so I need to build before moving on or I will become demotivated.
Good luck!

RunningForCalm · 14/05/2026 18:47

I’d like to join, if I may. I have a lot to contend with at the moment and started walking to try calm my thoughts and still my anxiety. It helped, but not enough. So I’ve started Couch to 5K.

I’ve never run before, but maybe because I started with walks lasting an hour and a half, the transition hasn’t been bad. In fact, I feel like I could do more. It has been better than walking for my mental health.

Now I am frustrated by the day in between - my anxiety and stress rockets. How critical is the day off? Do you think I can move onto next runs each day or should I just walk again? I can’t do nothing.

FunMum2019 · 15/05/2026 04:05

Argh, hoping for some accountability, I WILL GO RUNNING TOMORROW!!! Way too busy lately, and I'm missing it. Well done everyone, welcome new folks!

@RunningForCalm I'm so glad to hear the running helps. I would run every other day, otherwise you'll be prone to injury. In those other days you could walk, cycle, swim or even strength work.

Buntyforgirls · 18/05/2026 11:01

Repeating week 4.
How are the rest of you doing?

Finlaggan · 18/05/2026 21:10

I just started today. Does anyone have any recommendations for running shorts that don’t creep up please? I’m at best size 14 (creeping to 16 thus starting C25k!) TIA

Buntyforgirls · 19/05/2026 11:38

Hi @Finlaggan , sorry no suggestions I'm afraid.
How was your run?

couch25kagain · 19/05/2026 17:24

Hi all, I’m still on week 7. Had a bad cold and ran once last week but back at it again. I am finding these longer stretches of running more daunting. I’m usually fine while out, but harder to get myself out the door in the first place!
@FinlagganI’m not sure but I’ve had my eye on the sweaty betty running shorts (cycle shorts with outer shorts on top). I think they’ll be my treat if I finish the programme

BetterOffNow · 20/05/2026 17:57

Week 7 run 2 done, one more and I'll be back to where I was when I injured my ankle & had to go back to week 4 after a month off.
Keep it up everyone, we've got this!

Finlaggan · 20/05/2026 20:35

Run two of week one done. Phew. I’ve done the plan before, years ago and cannot believe how hard I've found week one! A friend also recommended sweaty betty shorts, will maybe treat myself if I stick with it.

do you find yourself fitter yet?

ILoveCatsAndKittens · 22/05/2026 09:00

Welcome newbies!

I’ve done two 3k runs earlier in the week, back to my original route today as it’s too easy to stop at 3k with the other route as it’s near my house!

Struggled today, did the 5k in just over 29minutes. I’d done 3k in just under 17 minutes so really slowed down.

lovely morning for a run, I even got a motivational high five from a lady I ran past!! It is very hot already, all the shorts talk I need some new ones. I have got the under armour 2 in 1 shorts but need to replace as the cycling short layer has a hole in!

beguilingeyes · 22/05/2026 09:30

I finally graduated on Wednesday and found it bloody hard. I'm tailwalking at Parkrun tomorrow and will try to get out early to avoid the heat on Monday and do another 30 minutes. I want to do a few more of those before starting the Beyond section.

Buntyforgirls · 23/05/2026 07:56

Morning all on this glorious morning!

Early run in the park repeating week 4.
I'm not enjoying the 5 min chunk so I am practising before moving on- and it was better today- so will try week 5 next week- which is fab as I was close to giving it up as found it impossible to enjoy running for 5 minutes.

At this point I cant imagine getting to a park run, but imagine the accomplishments I will feel WHEN I do!

Enjoy your runs today!

Finlaggan · 24/05/2026 21:32

Just posting for accountability. Week 2 run 1 done who knew 90 seconds was so long!

ProfessorLayton1 · 25/05/2026 22:57

Did my first week 4 run 1 today, little difficult to run for 5 minutes but managed it ok.

SoftIce · 27/05/2026 12:25

I've discovered that I hate running when it's hot. Unfortunately I can't run early in the morning, because I start work quite early. I miss running in the snow!

I haven't run since Saturday morning as it's just been too hot! I figured a week off would do me less harm than passing out in the heat as my next run is 28 minutes! Hoping to go after work Friday as I think it's meant to be cooler then, fingers crossed...

Buntyforgirls · 27/05/2026 15:45

Early morning slow run around the park, practising my 5 minute runs before moving on to week 5. Unfortunately, beginnings of a little knee twinge...

FunMum2019 · 27/05/2026 19:39

Bit later than I hoped, but week 5, day 1 DONE!!! Again……

OP posts:
upandoutofbed · 28/05/2026 08:41

Can I join please? Just completed week 4 run 2. Still really hot!! I struggled a bit - I would love to just be effortlessly running those 5 minute runs! I may have to repeat this week a few times.

SoftIce · 28/05/2026 09:48

@upandoutofbed Welcome! I think the week 4 / 5 transition is the hardest, but I don't think you necessarily need to repeat week 4 if you find it hard - just slow down as much as you need to find it manageable (I remember running those weeks in slow motion, just above walking pace). Your endurance will increase over the programme and then your speed will catch back up.

@Finlaggan I definitely feel fitter. I also feel better about my body (even though I'm not overweight and not running for weightloss).

I managed a new personal best today - but I cheated. I had 30 seconds of walking after 2k, 3k and 4k. It was just too hot.
