Started this again today (have completed it a few times over the years!). Anyone else beginning it so we can cheer each other on?

@ILoveCatsAndKittens Well done! FYI, I use the "Just Run" app. The new programme is:

(Three workouts per week)
Week 1: 4x10 minute runs with 1 minute walking breaks in between
Week 2: 3x15 minute runs with 1 minute walking breaks in between
Week 3: 3x17 minute runs with 1 minute walking breaks in between
Week 4: 3x18 minute runs with 1 minute walking breaks in between
Week 5: 2x22 minutes, 2x25 minutes and 2x30 minutes, each with 1 minute walking break in between
Week 6: 1x60 minutes runs

I was just delighted to see all those walking breaks to be honest. 😄

This seems to be a great way for me to start running (finally!) Your schedule is supposed to be easier to follow than I tried several times and quit running at all. Thanks for sharing!

SoftIce · 23/03/2026 08:29

@alino You are welcome! I'm in Week 3 now and to be honest the 1-minute breaks feel too short. I'm managing but on my last legs during the third run of each workout.

ILoveCatsAndKittens · 23/03/2026 08:55

Morning all!
5k done this morning in 29 mins 34 seconds. Felt a tough one, I was determined to get my time under 30 mins today.
Run again tomorrow, I think i will slow down but run further.

SoftIce · 23/03/2026 11:40

@ILoveCatsAndKittens That's so cool. I haven't got any faster, unfortunately. My personal 5k best is still 40 minutes, but usually more like 42-43 minutes. I was hoping I would get faster but it hasn't happened yet! I'd love to run it in 30 eventually.

ILoveCatsAndKittens · 24/03/2026 09:03

5k done in 29 mins 35 sec, thats a second slower than yesterday! I had my running jacket on today as it was raining slightly when I started, rain stopped and I was sweating! Took it off in the end.

@SoftIce you will do it! Just keep on going.

ILoveCatsAndKittens · 27/03/2026 10:58

5k done in 28 mins 38 seconds.

Happy weekend running everyone!

TomCat24 · 28/03/2026 14:05

Impressed with these sub-30 runs. My best is just under 32 mins. However, managed a 7k run this morning!

Good going with the 7k, well done!

SoftIce · 09/04/2026 16:10

@ILoveCatsAndKittens is super fast! You are my role model. 😄

Congratulations @TomCat24 ! I ran 7.36k today, but in 60-minutes (first day of last week of my follow-up programme). The first 5k took 41 minutes, so not faster than my best 5k time (40 minutes) but weirdly over the whole 60 minutes I was also not slower. At the end of C25k I ran 3.5k in 30 minutes and now I ran a bit more than 7k in 60 minutes. So overall my pace has neither (significantly) increased nor decreased even though I now run for much longer. I don't get it. 😄

ThisHangryTiger · 09/04/2026 20:26

@SoftIce that's fab, well done. You generally either got speed or distance, it's not the easiest to get better at both, at the same time.

FunMum2019 · 13/04/2026 21:50

These speeds and distances are inspiring me! Made t back to week 5, day 1. Brutal.

SoftIce · 14/04/2026 07:20

@FunMum2019 Well done! I think week 5 was the hardest - if you find it hard I would slow right down until you are sure you can last the distances; you can always speed back up later (well, in theory!).

beguilingeyes · 14/04/2026 10:54

After a lot of looping round week 4 because of mad work schedules I've finally made it to week 6. Run 2 tomorrow and then theoretically run 3 at Parkrun on Saturday.

JustSayingReally · 14/04/2026 11:23

Morning all can I join?
Im doing week 3 run 1 tomorrow. Im enjoying it so far but dont know anyone else doing it so I have nobody to talk runs with.
My legs are a bit achy after yesterday’s run. I’m also trying to lose weight so doing slimming world along side c25k

I think it’s a shame that the focus on this thread and so many other groups is on speed. We applaud your velocity but we can’t ever run with you.
Does anyone know of a place where successful, but slow, C25k runners can find a place?

I am going super slow!! My focus is on getting into a regular 30 minute run, but I’m not going to be winning any races or outrunning any bears……

You are a machine! C25k and slimming world at the same time, massive well done!
I am the same, I dont have anyone to talk to about running so ive been enjoying writing my progress here but also seeing how well everyone else is doing.

You are all an inspiration!

I havent run for 3 weeks, I was on holiday for 2 weeks and this week I have had severe calf pain making it not possible to run. I am hoping to get back on track on monday

BetterOffNow · 17/04/2026 14:40

Hi all, my ankle is finally better (I hope!) and having got to week 8 I'm going back to week 4 again tonight and this time I'm going to complete C25K! I won't be fast but I'm determined.

ILoveCatsAndKittens · 20/04/2026 08:56

Good luck with your run tonight @BetterOffNow take it easy!

I have been back to it this morning after a few weeks off (holiday then injury). 5k completed in 30 mins 25 seconds.

A previous poster has said that this thread focuses more on time and speed. For me personally, I feel that after completing c25k then 30 mins is what I should be aiming for, thats why I am focused on my times.

BetterOffNow · 20/04/2026 09:35

Runs 1 and 2 of week 4 done! No ankle pain so I'm back on it at last😀

I'll never be as fast as you, just here to increase my fitness and lost some lard LOL

ILoveCatsAndKittens · 21/04/2026 08:55

31 mins 18 seconds this morning. Slowed my first 2k down as I find I do those really fast and then run out of steam for the rest!

Next run day is friday.

Well done @BetterOffNow Fingers crossed you stay injury free!

SoftIce · 21/04/2026 14:27

Today felt amazing. I started running and just kept running and running and felt not-very-slow for the first time. That was an illusion, of course (still very slow at 39:45), but I felt really different, more like I think running should feel, if that makes sense.

I think it's totally fine for different people to have different goals. I too am aiming for 5k in 30 minutes although it will probably take me a year to achieve that - I don't even want to be fast but I do want to be at least average in at least one sport! Today I felt like I could actually achieve this with running.

ILoveCatsAndKittens · 24/04/2026 13:08

Rubbish run today, I only managed 2k. Wasn't feeling it at all, been running round busy all morning and still got things to do before the school run so my mind wasnt in it today. Also starving hungry and not had a drink all morning.
Never mind, i shall try again on Monday!

Good luck to everyone this weekend!

ILoveCatsAndKittens · 27/04/2026 08:56

5k in seconds over 30 mins. Next run is tomorrow morning.

Keep on jogging everyone!
