How to increase flexibility

I've been doing yoga once or twice a week here and there but not really taking it too seriously.

I've decided to get my act together and I've just started doing two 75 minute yoga classes and one 60 minute mat pilates class every week.

Is this enough to significantly improve my flexibility and mobility? Or would you add in another pilates class?

I've done quite a few reformer classes with different instructors at different studios which I have enjoyed but I find mat pilates gives me a much better stretch.

I've done a lot of pilates this year but I don't think my flexibility has improved - my core strength definitely has though.

Yoga is better for flexibility imo.

@HelenHywater my core is already pretty strong. My pilates instructor does lots of stretchy stuff but I know other instructors don't do as much.

I've come to the conclusion that some people are just naturally a lot more flexible than others!

@PurpleCat12 did you manage to find anything to help increase your flexibility?

I’m having to do a lot more sitting these days, with a long train commute and a desk job, and I feel so stiff these days in my lower back and hamstrings. I can’t get anywhere near touching my toes.

I’ve tried daily stretching on my own but I don’t think it’s enough!

I’ve found yin yoga the best thing for improving flexibility , I’ve done other types of yoga and a lot of Pilates for a while but it is the yin that has made the biggest difference over the last couple of months. I use Kassandra or Devi Daly on YouTube
