Canicross anyone?

Any canicrossers on here? I run with my sprocker, just wondered if there was anyone else lurking!

canicross is the sport of running with your dog, evolved from a way to keep Norwegian harness dogs fit in the summer months. They wear a harness and are attached to a belt. Length of races varies, we’re currently training for a half marathon but I know people run ultras etc with their dogs.
sprocker - type of spaniel which is cocker x springer. Mine is a working bred (and sometimes working! 😂) one.
lurking - hiding, occasionally popping a head over the parapet!

Absolutely bloody brilliant! Running with my favourite person all the time 😂. Downside is you get to the point where it’s hard to run without the dog…!

does the dog pull you along, i.e. are you faster with dog?

where I run there is someone running with a mahooosive husky type dog. the dog just seems to pootle along in front.

@bloodredfeaturewalldepends on the dog - some like to toodle along which must be very restful and others like to pull, it comes naturally to them. My sprocker is a puller which does make you go faster, but completely alters the biomechanics of how you run. And downhill is fun…. 😂
but as we do long distances he tends to settle after the first few miles so he’s out in front, with the lead tight (we use a bungee lead which has give in it to reduce and shock or force on the dog) but not exerting too much energy.
