Itchy legs after swimming pool

I have been to my local Bannatynes 3 times this year. We went this week and I keep forgetting after we have been me and my partner get chlorine burns on our legs and it’s itchy. It goes after a week. We did not get this when we went to a different Bannatynes last year or other swimming pools. A bit stressed out. Is this normal?

I also get itchy skin (and an irritated nose) after swimming in a chlorinated pool. Skin is ok if i wash it thoroughly as soon as I get out.

I had to give up swimming because of this.

Anti chlorine wash and a lot of emollient helped but the whole rigmarole spoiled enjoyment of swimming.

Thank you for your replies. It’s good to know others have had similar experiences.

Do you shower before you go in? Wet skin and hair doesn’t absorb the chlorine as well so that should help.

if it doesn’t help then put on a thin layer of thick white cream to act as a barrier.

also maybe discuss it with staff if it really doesn’t happen at other places for you?

I had this and took an anti histamine for about a week which sorted it. Now it’s fine if I just moisture madly.
