Diastasis Recti and Weights

I’m really keen to start weights as I have recently lost 3 stone, still 1 to lose, I’m in perimenopause and know from reading up how important it is to get started with this, but I have diastasis recti and need to be careful to not use my core. Does anyone else have this and can give me some advice on what I should do, and YouTube’s I could follow? I can’t really afford to join a gym or hire a PT.

How big is your gap? Mine is small - never seen anyone about it but I think it’s about 1.5cm. I can see a droop when I plank etc but otherwise it looks normal. With exercise I just crack on!

I have a 4 finger gap and started weights. You will naturally engage your core as you lift (or even just standing up!) It’s improved my gap massively. Just lift light to start and engage your core each time. It will late some time.

Have you found something that helps? I am also working on my pelvic floor…
