Any good strength training YouTube videos I should look at?

Note: I'm a complete beginner, in my mid-fifties, menopausal, need to do things gradually and slowly.

Well done. I have weedy arms and can only handle 1kg weights in the gym.

Have a look at the Courtney Black app. She uploads daily workout videos with a few other trainers, ranging in different abilities and all previous are on it so you can choose from old ones. It is monthly subscription but well worth it.

SirChenjins · 07/07/2025 19:23

Are there any free videos on YouTube I could take a look at?

Bumping for you as I'd also like to know if anyone has any suggestions!

SirChenjins · 07/07/2025 20:55

Thank you! 😊

I've used the videos on Fitness Blender for years - just go to workout videos and filter for free workouts and kettlebells (https://www.fitnessblender.com/videos?exclusive[]=0&equipment[]=23). You can choose the difficulty level too and most videos have easier modifications. Really good results.

The free ones come up on YouTube so you can put them on TV. I love that they don't have music, so you can play your own (that you actually like) in the background if you want.

Goblet squats!

JoeTheDrummer · 08/07/2025 08:47

Bodyfit by Amy is very good.

KevinRowlandsdungarees · 08/07/2025 08:48

I have been doing Heather Robertson strength training on you tube. She has loads of videos and easy to follow

SirChenjins · 08/07/2025 10:25

Thanks everyone, I'll take a look at those 😊

They make really good door stops. They’re also useful for holding down the covers on outdoor furniture.
Perhaps this thread will inspire me to use them for their intended purpose!

SirChenjins · 08/07/2025 11:22

I suspect mine might end up doing the same...

I like Madfit on Youtube but she uses dumbbells rather than kettlebells. I think you’d need to do a search on Youtube for kettlebell workouts specifically.

everycowandagain · 08/07/2025 12:53

@SirChenjins try fitnessblender.com loads of excellent free workout videos and you can filter by lots of different things including equipment so you can find kettlebell specific workouts

Mauvehoodie · 08/07/2025 13:15

I’ve got Caroline girvan’s epic beginner workout saved on YouTube (as yet not started!):

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 08/07/2025 13:24

I really like the FitOn app. There is free content on just about any exercise or equipment you want. Anything from 5 min workouts targeting specific areas to longer workouts.

Greybeardy · 08/07/2025 16:18

Joe wicks has some KB videos on y’tube. Have found them ok in the past (KB is currently functioning as a doorstop!). He’s a bit like a hyperactive puppy, but does seem to be safe and reasonably sensible.

SirChenjins · 08/07/2025 16:26

Brilliant - thanks for the recommendations everyone! I realised I'm officially middle aged when the very young woman at the checkout asked me if I wanted her to lift it off the conveyor belt for me as it was quite heavy HmmBlush

I’ve used workout with Roxanne on YouTube for kettlebells workouts, quite like her, there are lots of really good dumbbell workouts but far fewer kettlebells
