Started going to the Gym

Hi, I used to go to the gym many moons ago but after a couple of serious illnesses it was the last thing on my mind.
I recently told Dd I was not as strong as I used to be, so I’ve been to the gym a couple of times.
Getting into it very, very gently with my Dd helping me and stopping me doing too much, I’m really enjoying it but I have a problem.
I wear Tena every day, more as a safeguard than anything, apart from sometimes if I cough but I’ve noticed the day after I’ve excercised I’m changing a few times as I can’t hold it.
Sorry if tmi but do you think I’m doing something wrong while exercising?

Sounds like stress incontinence rather than something wrong with how you're exercising. I've started getting it occasionally when I exercise. I've downloaded the NHS sqeezy app to try and strengthen my pelvic floor. I'd maybe start with that and speak to your GP if it doesn't improve.

Well done for getting back into it! 💪🏼

If you’re not leaking while you’re actually exercising then could it be muscle fatigue, the same as your arms and legs feel tired the day after a gym session?
It’s not going to hurt to start doing pelvic floor exercises though.

You could ask your GP for a referral to a physio. They are best placed to understand what is going on if this is obviously exercise related, and can help. They see women for continence issues related to child birth, and other reasons, all the time.
Good luck and well done for getting back into exercise.

Thanks for all your advice and luckily there’s no leak while I’m actually exercising, or that same day, it’s the day after and has happened every time I’ve been to the gym, so it has to be that.
I’m actually for the first time really enjoying the exercise and can’t wait to go again, although on my son’s advice I leave two days in-between, which seems to suit me.
I’ll download the squeezy app and start pelvic floor excercises and if it carries on I’ll go to the doctors and get a referral to a physio.
Thanks again….
