I've been incorporating jumps into my strength and conditioning sessions for about 18 mos. Keen to hear from anyone else who does these, esp with progression ideas!

After warm up, I typically integrate sets of 8 rapid jumps onto a 40cm box into circuits that involve lunges, press-ups, kettlebell swings etc.

Then, I close my workout with an exclusive jumping round that typically goes something like
5 static jumps onto a 60cm box (I have to psych myself up for the 60!)
3 x 8 press ups plus 3 60 cm jumps, 30s rest in between
3 x 30s fast mountain climbers plus 6 fast 40cm jumps

Keen to hear about others' experience with jumping and progression ideas!

Once I get going, I like box jumps - I do either 18 inches (45cm?) or 20 inches. They're taxing, I have to say! I was doing them yesterday after half an hour of bar bell squats (top sets at 50kg) then supersetting 10 box jumps with 20 cals on the ski erg and 250 m on the stationary bike. THey're a huge effort in that sort of HIIT circuit. I think I did about 40 jumps overall.

You could ramp things up by jumping sideways, making sure you swap sides, or on a 24" box stepping up turning 180 degrees as you step off the other side. That is, add some different directions. My PT sometimes has me jump the littlest box (12" I think?) backwards.

I also do burpee box jumps jumping forwards and sideways.

People at my gym can do amazing box jumps - one guy stacks the 24 " with the 20" on top, and then lands on one leg.

My trainer is a great believer in jump training - and apparently it's excellent for women's bone density & strength as we age (I'm 66).

Yes I love it too!

I do squat thrust box jumps but might upgrade to burpees. And sideways jump offs too.

Yes there is a guy at mine who stacks a 60 + 40 together. He is some type of junioe football champion though!
