Hi everyone,

my partner is running the London marathon next week for Pancreatic cancer, he sadly lost his mother a couple of years ago to it. I am wanting to get him a gift he can wear on marathon day in memory of her. Any ideas would be so helpful.

thank you.

What was she like? Did she have any special interests or colour she wore all the time? You could get him a coloured band to go round his wrist in her favourite colour? Or if she particularly loved something (e.g. gardening) some themed (e.g. gardening-patterned) socks to wear?

Or a pin badge from a particular place she was happiest?

It’s a lovely idea, but just to add I would steer clear of things like socks - the mantra is “nothing new on race day” so he’ll want to run in kit that is tried and tested

My vote is shoes tags as above! Good luck to him, it will be a wonderful (and emotional) day.

What a lovely idea x

Im running Manchester marathon on the same day - for Alzheimer’s society (dad has dementia )
I’m having a photo of him as a screen saver on my phone and I will look at it regularly when it gets tough !
All the best to him - it will be an emotional day for us all running (the training etc and especially when it is a cause so special to us )
