Body fat scales

I've repeatedly heard that the results from these are so variable that I am not at all sure about their usefulness.

Does anyone find them particularly useful with consistent readings?

Any other thoughts or recommendations welcome

I can use the paid for ones at the gym but DH won't set fooot in a gym 🥲

I use a Eufy one, and yes I find it very useful, as I’m currently losing weight, and need to ensure I lose fat and not muscle.

I don’t really care if the absolute number is accurate as such, for me that’s more an indicatio , I care about the trajectory, as this will be accurate , ie up or down, and by how much. The eufy app also tracks my progress and recognises who stands on the scales. They match the gym ones, but again, I am not sure how accurate they are, and the absolute number is just an indication to me, the trajectory is what’s important.

withings is also supposed to be good. But for me, yes , very useful.

We've got a Withings scale, which I use occasionally, DH more often. He recently had his body fat measured during a health screening and the results were consistent. He thinks it's pretty good, finds measurements motivating to exercise and eat well. Similar to what the PP says about the Eufy.

Mine is useless both in terms of absolute and relative readings. On the former it had my body fat % at 8% above my DEXA scan. On the latter the body fat % just seems to track my weight when I know from dexa scans recomposition has taken place.

We've got one that isn't too far off the readings I get at the gym. I trust the gym ones more as they make me out be less fatty than the ones at home. The home one is a noerden one.

We have two, a Tanita and a cheap Salter one. I weigh myself on both, just to see the trend, they usually agree on whether I’ve lost/gained fat or muscle but I just look at it as a rough measurement.
