Is the 30day shred still good...

... or as time has passed is it outdated?

The thing is it is the only home DVD exercise routine that I am happy with - still! I go through phases of exercising and not exercising and I always come back to Jillian and her 2 best girls 😂

I've not found anything else that does full body with weights that is only 20 mins.

I am 60 yrs old and aim of course to lose weight, especially round the dreaded waist and tummy area, but these days general health is also becoming more of a priority: I want to be active as I go into my dotage...

Can anyone share their thoughts and opinions of the Shred and maybe even offer alternatives so I can mix it up a bit? 🙏

if it works for you it doesnt matter if its seen as outdated

MokaEfti · 08/12/2024 15:49

Well yes I think it works for me but things move on, and I'm just wondering if there's anything else out there to mix it up a bit.

I also love this but it hurts my back. I find it very effective and gutted it hurts my back

MokaEfti · 08/12/2024 16:42

@Debtfreeme which part hurts your back? I don't find this, but I do have to watch my knees...

I still love it. Just remember...

The neck is not invited to this party Grin

Hi, my name is JILLian - I can hear her in my head!

I think for the very short time (20 mins) the shred is still great time value.

Have you tried her app? It has all her videos on there, recipes, and then build your own workouts where you select what equipment you have and the amount of time available and builds you a workout.

I love 30 day shred. Just done it again and it really works fast.

PlumpPuddingLass · 08/12/2024 18:22

Incredibly powerful works 100%

MokaEfti · 08/12/2024 18:27

@HPandthelastwish no way!! Didn't realise she has an App - will investigate!! 🙏

ps. @Swedishdeathcleaning the Shred is with weights - or do you mean actual weightlifting ? 🏋️‍♀️

It’s a great programme I still use the dvd every now and then it’s perfect mix of body weight exercises.

ErrolTheDragon · 11/12/2024 08:30

I used to do shred in my 50s, now nearly 64 and want to find something similar but I'm not sure I can stand the music...
Is there any program that's similarly short so it's doable every morning, with clear instructions but quiet?

@Swedishdeathcleaning yes the shred is resistance training, I have a set of 3 different weights can't remember what they actually weigh. I never use the lightest - I vary between the medium and heaviest. Not sure how many I can do before getting tired but 8 sounds a lot - going to count next time!

@Jingle10thWay well that's good to hear and I feel like I will be carrying on with the good old shred!
@ErrolTheDragon can you just turn the volume off or is that not what you mean?

I like to hear clear instructions rather than have to watch the screen too much.

I'm trying to re-establish a morning exercise habit, and as a nice gentle start I'm doing a 30 day morning yoga series with Kassandra - just a nice calm voice, not much chat, and no music. Perfect! What I really want is something a bit like that presentational style but with weights.

Jumbojem · 29/12/2024 20:58

@ErrolTheDragon I used to do Fitness Blender on YouTube, it is just instruction and a beep when the time is up, no music. They always had loads of different videos including ones with weights and body weight only. Admittedly not done any in years myself though.

I loved 30 day shred, used to do it 3 times a week when my DC were small and didn't have time or opportunity to do outside of house exercise. It got me in pretty good shape and I'd still do it now if I still had a dvd player. Also didn't know she had an app! I am not sure if I would still be into Jillians personality now though.
