MCL injury, will I ever run again?

I've had an MCL strain for over a year. I'm seeing a physio who thinks it's minor - a strain rather than a tear. I agree as the pain goes away and ibuprofen helps a bit to ease it. They've given me exercises to do and said I can still exercise on it if it feels ok. I've tried running twice since seeing the physio, both times I can barely walk the next day and limp for about a week. Will I ever be able to run again or is this just me now?

Have you had an MRI? My physio diagnosed MCL strain turned out to be a torn meniscus.

I think I need one. I'm starting to feel like a strain wouldn't last a year and still leaving me unable to walk properly.

I was nearly 2 years before I decided to ignore my physio and get an MRI. I had surgery 3 months ago to trim the meniscus. Too early to say if it worked or not but feeling positive.

Definitely get an MRI or find a physio that has ultrasound. They can see tears.
