Help! Did my first long run for a long time at the weekend and leaked so badly that by the end of it I may as well have weed myself... Luckily was wearing all black but still v obvious and it rubbed. Obv will have to do Kegels etc, but in the meantime can anyone recommend some products to wear that will he comfortable whilst running?

A couple of options, best to test a few to see what works best for you:

I found the full on pants made me really sweaty and uncomfortable although were great when I had a cough/cold. Usually I use the lidl/aldi own brand pads which are fine.

Always do a gel type pad which I had a sample packet recently and was really impressed how much they held.

What worked best for me was a mooncup. I noticed I didn't leak during my period and worked out that the cup really helped. I think it put internal pressure on the right spot to prevent leaks. I wore a liner too for high pressure days.

I also recommend the NHS squeezy app!

I used to have real problem with this when I started running and could not go out without a pad, but now I seem to have it under control. Don't ask me how! Presumably my body has adjusted to the motion, my muscles have strengthened, something like that. But do persevere and you will find it gets better. I just used a normal liner for shorter runs, and a standard sanitary pad for longer ones.

You don't necessarily need to do kegels. A tight pelvic floor can also cause leaking. A pelvic floor physio would be able to check.

Period pants are your friend here
