Best NHS food discounts

Hi,

A little bit of context.

I'm currently moving to a new town and starting an NHS Band 3 job. Once I start I plan to apply for a blue light card, and will also have an NHS ID so would be eligible for any exclusively NHS discounts as well.

The area I'm living in is moderately expensive (think London commuter belt - but not employed in London) and I'm trying to work out the best way to be smart with my money, especially for the first few months when I know I'll receive far fewer unsociable hours due to being in training. In short, I'm looking for the best places (if any) to food shop as an NHS employee. I have seen some supermarkets (ASDA, Morrisons) have some discounts on delivery fees and offers on some foods but I'm curious as to what other people use / would recommend.

Any advice is greatly appreciated 🤗

Asda only give you blue light discount in stores afaia

Does Asda accept Blue Light card?
Currently, Asda does accept Blue Light Card and offers a discount for card holders of 10% in store. Use your card at the checkout. As mentioned above, if this changes, we will post an update if this changes to ensure you don’t miss out on any discounts.

how do you acquire the nhs discount code?
How to use the Asda NHS Discount?
If you are able to acquire a discount code for NHS Staff to use at Asda, then all you need to do is copy and paste the code at the checkout

I never bothered to renew my blue light card, I could never find anywhere to use it! I will be interested to see the replies to see if it’s worth bothering with again.

Yeah honestly it's OK but nothing amazing.

The best discounts we've had would be from Apple with very high ticket items.

Also I check when we eat out at Nando's etc but never really saved money on essentials sorry 😞

Honest burgers, Zizzi's, Bill's, pizza express and Bella Italia, turtle bay, I all use it at reasonably regularly. Greene King and Chef & Brewer pubs too.

I've used it online at GHDs (got nearly £20 off a new hairdryer), fatface is 10% off, Claire's, Karen Millen (on top of sale), Oliver Bonas, Not on the high street, Moon pig, Jo Malone, Clarks, Schuh

You used to get free entry to Kew Gardens which was fantastic but I think that's stopped now. Asda is good value but I don't live near one! I got £5 off a zoo entry last year too.

It's worth it imo but I am quite on it. I always check I get the £2.50 per year value from it and as you can see above, I absolutely do

Not for food but don't forget to use your NHS card in Superdrug too !

I get most of my toiletries , makeup etc there as it does help

Asda just gives you money in your savings pot now. No instant money off.

I find it good for eating out in chain restaurants, some High St clothes shops and for when I buy white goods. I always ask even if there’s nothing on the app!
