Hankering after a Nordictrack 2045

Hi

Just getting back into running after an 18 month break. (Previously ran 50- 75km per week - slowly) All outdoors. One of the things I have realised is that I no longer have the desire to run outside if it is dark and andnor very wet and blowy.

So instead of joining a gym, I have decided to expand my meagre home gym (currently water rower, mini bands and a small selection of weights) by adding a treadmill.

Looking at what is available, I have become infatuated by the Nordictrack 2045 and really can't see a reason not to buy it (love the addition of a decline, the motor size and sexy big screen).

Does anyone have any experience of this treadmill? Would you buy it again?!of not why not. Any major issues especially with post purchase customer service.

Basically tell me why I should not buy this treadmill

Can't find the one you mention. Only 2450 which is an excessive amount of money but if you can afford it and will use it and all the functions, then go for it.

I have a nordictrack treadmill that does what l need for when it's bad weather.... stops...starts...inclines.... on board workouts. I have it set up in front of a TV so l don't need one with a screen.

EastCoastDamsel · 25/07/2024 20:53

@NeedToAskPlease thank you. Yes, it is the 2450 (fat fingers).

I like the fact that this one has a decline function too. (And the big screen)

Which one do you have?

S20i

I got mine from Fitness Superstore and paid for installation too.

The 1 setting on mine equates to a slight downhill. I never use it.

I use my treadmill only in bad weather and for speed sessions using the on board preset programmes

Have a thorough check online about nordictrack customer service. They are atrocious

I had an expensive commercial running track from them and there was an issue with the display and they wouldn’t replace and the issue went on for 9 months while I made expensive repayments and then agreed to refund a small amount and take away, so expensive and left with nothing at the end with light use

i wish I’d checked before as there is so much info out there about how bad they are

Patatochake · 25/07/2024 22:12

Also I have a water tower and it’s gorgeous, only had to replace foot straps!

Bettergetthebunker · 25/07/2024 22:22

I have a gym full of Nordic track. The one thing I’d say is that they’ve recently changed their subscription pricing. Which means if you want to use the machines after any entry subscriptions thrown in with the sale. It’s like £400 a year. Which is annoying because if used to be about £175 I think or something like that.

EastCoastDamsel · 26/07/2024 06:55

Oh dear @Patatochake . That is not good. I am willing to pay for good equipment but I do expect good customer service then too!

@Bettergetthebunker another a £400+ a year on top of the hefty purchase price seems quite cheeky (but peleton tread is similar)

@NeedToAskPlease I would be using for the same reasons. And sometimes for a second run in the evenings.

@EastCoastDamsel - if that's all you'll use it for, really then think if it's worth the price.

I got this particular one as a friend had one and used it for the same reasons as me... so l knew it was enough for what l wanted.

Is there anywhere nearby that you can go and look at them?

EastCoastDamsel · 26/07/2024 09:20

Unfortunately not @NeedToAskPlease .

I would probably buy through John Lewis though for added customers service.

My do a trip to a big city to have a look at one.

Let us know how you get on please. I have just bought a entry level treadmill for the same reason. I have been injured for the past 10 weeks so slowly starting up again but really enjoying being able to run at night/early morning/when the weather is not conducive. I started a week ago and so far so good.

EastCoastDamsel · 03/08/2024 15:21

@BearWoman what did you go for? I have yet to take the plunge as weather been so good! Regardless of what I do end up buying, it is a big ticket item so am taking my time 😁

I got a Trojan. No bells or whistles but it has all the essentials. I'm loving the freedom to run at anytime. I do support you taking your time and doing the research, they are expensive. I have set myself the challenge to get on it every day for ninety days even if it's for a quick walk.
