Dealing with an injury, advice pls

Currently dealing with a knee injury. Trying to offload as much as possible while I rehab in gym. So minimising step count. Really struggling mentally with this and the unknown timeframe to getting back up and running (literally).

anyone have any tips on dealing with injury and not looking back (ie going over and over how this happened!) but looking forward? Thank you

Have you seen a physiotherapist? It's worth paying for a consultation to get some rehab exercises. I had a tear in my knee cartilage, and did a lot of step ups (slooooowly) and one legged squats, standing on a box, with something to hang on to. My physio said that I should keep moving and that cartilage likes being worked!

I stopped running & jumping though.

But that was what I did for what I'd injured - your rehab might be very different!

I share your pain! I currently have issues which means I can’t run as I’d like to, although my physio has given a rehab plan which allows for some running. I’m supposed to be training for a marathon, but the jury is out on that one.

I second the advice of seeing a physio, if you haven’t already.

Other than that, I’m trying to have the mindset that picking up injuries is all part and parcel of being a runner. There are some things you can do to minimise the risk, but I saw a running consultant about 6 months ago who said the biggest risk factor for injury when running is running! It’s all part of building mental resilience (although deeply annoying and frustrating!)
