How much exercise do I do?

This may sound like a silly question but I was wondering how much exercise or level of activity I would be classed as doing. Purely out of interest as when filling out forms I never know if I'm moderately active or very or what.

My routine is as follows:

Go for a fast paced walk of 4-5 miles every day on varied terrain often with leg weights. Usually end up having walked around 8+ miles each day all said.

Go to the gym 4 or 5 days a week where I do half hour of cardio (cross trainer or fast walk on incline) and then a routine on the weight machines of legs/abs/back/arms/shoulders.

Thanks

Very active/highly active - whatever the top category is

LaurieFairyCake · 14/05/2024 15:05

The average UK citizen is very sedentary - under 4000 steps a day

Highly active is 12,500 steps a day

I'm not quite reaching that, so only moderately active

I reckon you're doubling my activity Grin

You know that's a lot! It's way more than average. Why do you want to know?

Thanks all

Obviously I know I'm more active than the average person @TheTripThatWasnt

The walking I've done for years but the gym is new for me the last few months. Hoping to tone up somewhat

Just wasn't sure if highly active is more those who do great long runs and cycles etc.

Purely curiosity seeing as this is the exercise part of the forum.

Anything > 150 METs a week puts you in the 'Highly Active' category.
