Somatic yoga - will it sort me out?

So I keep seeing adverts on my social media for somatic yoga.
It seems to offer a remedy for the various ills that ail me. I'm anxious, so jumpy its like I'm being shot, my joints are sore and I'm struggling to lose weight.
I'm feeling pretty grim and miserable and in tbe depth of feeling ming these adverts pop up and miraculously offer me the solution.
Has anyone tried it? It's too good to be true isn't it?

I love somatic yoga but I don’t know if it’s a panacea.

I've tried it and found it very relaxing, but that might be because the teacher was very gentle and it was 45 minutes of peace in a quiet, beautiful building.

It's very slow and gentle, no difficult poses or strenuous moves and I think at best calms you down and gently eases a few muscles. It almost certainly doesn't help weight loss except perhaps by getting you into a healthier way of living and mindset.

Would you be happy to share what benefits you get from doing it?
As the adverts discuss that it reduces cortisol and stress levels, do you feel it helps that?
I'd sell my thumbs to feel better and I feel I might be a bit vulnerable to snake oil salesmen so any comments you have would be very, very welcome.

@GaslitlikeaVictorianparlour I've just mentioned this to my husband as he tried somatic yoga when he was suffering from anxiety. He said the same as me really, that it's relaxing and peaceful. He also added that whilst there were other people in the class they were all busy focusing on the moves and doing their own thing quietly so it was quietly companionable rather than anxious making. He said that if you have anxiety give it a go. Hope things get easier for you very soon.

I followed a lady on YouTube, I’ll find the link in a second.

All of her workouts are free, it’s trauma informed yoga and I really enjoy it. I felt a lot less tense after a workout and slept better.

Hannah Uiri! Search for her and you’ll find them x

This is brilliant, thanks so much. I'm really quite bananas at the moment and your lovely kindness has made me tear up a bit.
Drunken Elephant I'll give Hannah Uiri a try, thank you for the recommendation. It means I can try it and not give all my money to con artists from Facebook.
Churchview I'm so glad your DH feels better.
