Underarm chaffing

I've just done my second half marathon today and again I am in agony from chaffing on my armpits. It's really raw. Is there anything I can do to prevent this in future?

I wish I could help - I have the same problem! It's awful. And stings so badly for days after! I tried Vaseline beforehand and it helped a little but not much. I have to wear long tops but I get so hot!

I found that I had a problem when I wore a vest (charity ones are especially bad for it), but was fine wearing a t-shirt. Body glide may help.

Same as above. I'm okay when wearing a T -shirt but can't wear a vest for races longer than 10k without chafing. It's the underarm seam that causes me the problem. What are you presently wearing?

WhereShallWeGo · 07/04/2024 20:26

Sudocrem in any particular areas that might rub - preemptively. This has worked for me.

Piggletta · 07/04/2024 20:29

You need bodyglide.

What were you wearing?

CMOTDibbler · 07/04/2024 20:38

Bodyglide, but I find vests and some sports bras cause chafing, so a tech t shirt, or short sleeve compression top under a vest is what I need.

speedtalker · 07/04/2024 20:39

Body glide! Definitely. Any running shop should have that or an equivalent. I use it under my bra line too.

Loopsielou · 07/04/2024 20:54

Chub rub.

Boots silicone sex lube

Cheaper than body glide, doesn't stain, doesn't sweat off. I've tried all kinds of sports lube and this does the job perfectly.

Body glide and a short sleeve tshirt under the vest.

Cyclicts use chamois cream to avoid chaffing on the under carriage, could these creams work? I use this one https://www.amazon.co.uk/Chamois-Buttr-PA-00001-Cream/dp/B01FK3OL3I

Thanks. I'll look at body glide.
I'm currently wearing t-shirts. Mostly ones I've got from races. Long or short sleeves doesn't seem to make a difference.
