In my mid 50's and have just started strength training...after every session I have a small period. Its very light and needs a panty liner.. but has anyone else had this?

No, this has never happened to me. I am a similar age to you and have had intermittent bleeds due to menopause, but never, ever linked to strength training and I lift heavy weights at least twice a week. You should get medical advice ASAP.

This is def not normal...you need to get it checked out by your Gp and maybe stop weight training until you do.

Unexplained / unexpected bleeding should always investigated. Book a GP appointment OP

I am not post menopause but hadn't had a period for several months.

I will book an appointment in the week

Thanks

Contacted my GP. Just waiting to hear back. I did a Hiit session this morning and spotted again afterwards. Feel a tad anxious but thank you to for your replies.

I don't get spotting but I do produce more discharge after strenuous exercise.

Like you, I am not quite officially menopausal at the moment but my periods are very sporadic.

I think I remember someone in the Run Mummy Run group on Facebook having this a few years ago and they contacted their GP and it was nothing to worry about but I can't remember what it caused it.

Thanks...have a telephone appointment in two weeks. Best I could get.

It's definitely something women lifters experience. Not to say it's ok or not ok, but you're not alone for sure

Boldstreet · 04/04/2024 21:02

Oh thanks..thats reassuring

I've experienced this after HIIT training, can't say if it's normal or not but never asked anyone.
