I just joined a gym!

I haven’t exercised regularly for about 3 years and have slowly gained weight over that time.

I have decided enough is enough and joined a gym. I’ve booked my induction for later this week and a class for the day after.

My aim is to go twice a week, that feels doable. Any more will be a bonus! My goal is to stop the current weight gain and hopefully lose a few lbs too.

Anyone else in the same boat?

Well done, @Muchtoomuchtodo

I love the gym, good for body and mind. I hope you enjoy it

Well done you! I think starting at twice per week is great. Keep doing it for 4 weeks or so and hopefully it’s a habit. At which point you will probably want to do more.
One tip to get you into it - observe what’s going on -equipment, classes etc, and don’t be afraid to ask the staff to show you how to use anything that takes your fancy.

Good for you and enjoy it. I used to be a complete exercise refuser, now I go to the gym 4 times a week. I'm a hell of a lot happier and healthier now!

I do find that exercise makes everything in your life better. You mention weight loss - I'm sure you know this, but it's mostly your nutrition that will impact weight loss or maintenance

Thanks all. I’m hoping that getting a bit more active will curb any more weight gain and as I get into it and into a routine I can look at my diet too. Baby steps and all that x

I never enjoyed the gym till I found the pleasure of getting strong. Hope you enjoy it too.

Getting active won’t help much with weight. But it will inspire you for diet too
