Just bought a treadmill/ walking pad and I'm stoked!

Just wanted to come on here to share my excitement! I spent most of 2023 with an injury which prevented me from doing a lot of sports I love! However, one thing I can do is walk and I could walk for hours/ days and I've used it to get me through many a mental battle during injury. Problem is when co-parent my LO I can't get out as much so for 4/5 days I don't do much and it gets me down, so after a lot of putting a walking pad/ treadmill in my basket and taking it out trying to justify the cost I've finally given in and got myself a walking pad and I'm so full of excitement and hope to be able to get some steps in of an evening when I have my little one! Just had to share my happy news and see if anyone has had one and can help me justify spending on such a purchase!?

Deal of the day: WalkingPad C2 (S1) Treadmill 0.5-6 km/h Walking Treadmills for Home Foldable App Compatible with Remote Control amzn.eu/d/j9xCyoq

Thank you!

2024horizons · 21/03/2024 16:05

I have the Urevo from Amazon. Was about £170.

Itisnearlyspring · 21/03/2024 19:32

I am still using mine every day to make up my steps in front of the tv in the evening. Average daily steps have increased from 5000 to 9000 and it is no longer making me dizzy.

I have the Redliro Walking Pad Treadmill Under Desk, Portable Mini Treadmill with Remote Control, Bluetooth £200 at amazon.

evilharpy · 22/03/2024 14:53

Mine arrived yesterday and had its first proper outing today during a 30 minute call that I didn't need to contribute anything to and could keep my camera off. I loved it! I wouldn't have had a chance to pop out for a walk but felt really good for being able to get up and properly move around.

Sunsetboardwalk · 22/03/2024 16:00

There are so many different ones! I don't know how to choose. I really only want to spend £200 max. Need it to fit under couch and be pullable-outable by me on my own.

2024horizons · 22/03/2024 19:33

Urevo is worth a look. The highest lip is about 11cm. It was about £170. I use it all the time. I also bought the extended warranty for peace of mind.

It has wheels, you have to lift up one end and then it wheels, it's a bit of a faff depending on how much space you have (think manoeuvring a wheel barrow). Check out the weight in KG and how comfortable you are with that. I switch between the treadmill and chair daily and the way my desk is set up (drawers either side mean I have to pull it back out from under the desk, I then have to turn it 90 degrees to park it as it were parallel to the sofa bed in my office (doesn't fit under it as not a big enough space) where its reasonably out the way. I suppose its not the most aesthetic thing but that's kind of okay. I haven't tried tilting it on its side for storage. I might if I had room and wasn't using it daily.

2024horizons · 22/03/2024 19:34

When I got mine my main thought was that I wish I'd got one sooner! Some people have reported dizziness but some have also said you get used to it.

Sunsetboardwalk · 22/03/2024 19:35

That's very useful, thank you.

Itisnearlyspring · 23/03/2024 07:26

@Sunsetboardwalk I bought mine becuase it is only 9.5cm high. It lives under my bed and I slide it in and out sideways on a yoga mat.

CarpeVitam · 27/03/2024 22:31

I bought The Run one (pictured) and I too am 'stoked'! 😁

Just bought a treadmill/ walking pad and I'm stoked!

Apologies for bumping an old-ish thread, but does anyone have a walking pad-style treadmill that they’ve used consistently for over six months? I seem to be purchasing junk that breaks very quickly.

2024horizons · 29/03/2024 17:07

I bought mine in November and use it most days. It was Urevo from Amazon. I bought the extended warranty just in case. I think its on sale for 145 for Easter. I paid 170.

I’m interested in getting one too! I’m pregnant and have terrible pgp. Hoping I could do 10 mins or so a day and bump it up post bebe!

Windy1234 · 29/03/2024 18:37

Those that have been using it a few months, have you found you have lost weight?

I'd be a bit careful if you're looking at walking treadmills if the pgp is making your gait wonky - most of them don't have anything to hold on to and I'd be a bit nervous about falling off (i have an unpredictable hip and have had a few times where walking without holding on to anything has got a bit more exciting than planned!)

2024horizons · 31/03/2024 16:29

@Windy1234 My goal isn't weight loss but what I have done is maintained my same weight, despite a few months of eating rubbish. I would definitely say it helps burn more calories and also helps fluid retention, its fantastic for bloated days, after a day of high steps a lot of the fluid retention has shifted.

What you will find is that after a while if you do a lot of steps you will noticeably feel hungrier which is normal obviously as you are burning more. It does level out. It's important to stay hydrated too.

Windy1234 · 31/03/2024 19:35

@2024horizons thank you, iv been trying to go swimming regularly but looking for something else to help boost and get toned more than lose weight I suppose

2024horizons · 31/03/2024 22:01

I think it's an awesome thing to add to swimming. I started my fitness journey by getting into swimming as I find it quite relaxing and easy, I love it.

I then got curious about other forms of activity And started doing classes. One thing led to another and I ended up doing five months of personal training in the gym.

So follow your interest is my advice!

Walking is great as it is weight bearing, so it's good for the bones. I think impact exercise uses a different form of muscle fibre, we have slow and fast twitch muscles or something, and I think walking uses one of them whereas swimming is the other. Good luck whatever you decide!

I picked up an absolute bargain yesterday and got this secondhand but pretty much unused for seventy quid! https://www.argos.co.uk/product/6046848 It is a bit big but thankfully, it fits ok in my livingroom. (I'll have to move it at Christmas as it's in the tree space but that's an end of year problem!)

I got it mainly for walking backwards on as backwards walking is insanely good for you but draws a lot of negative attention when you do it in public. I'm very excited as I'm recovering from an injury at a time when I'm very busy with sedentary work. And for most of last year, I've really struggled to get my normal levels activity and the less I do, the less motivated I feel. The mental aspect of my current work is leaving me tired and I crave just mindless vegging out when it's done. It's stupid because I know that I'll actually manage the mental work easier if I get more exercise but I seem to have hit a wall of exercise or work, not both.

The best thing with the treadmill as opposed to any of my equipment that I used before my injury is that it starts out nice and easy. If I'm feeling like vegging, which seems to be my current state, I can trick myself by saying I'll only do a gentle ten minutes. I know that getting started is a huge part of the battle for me at the moment. So I'm really hoping that it will let me find a way to exercise, even with the current demands on my brain!

Backward walking!!! I never heard of this, how interesting!!

3luckystars · 12/08/2024 16:51

I’m looking at one of these now but would like a big one as possible because some of them have really short belts and I wouldn’t like that at all. I’m researching at the moment.

3luckystars · 13/08/2024 22:44

Sorry for raking this thread up again but does anybody have any updates, I’m torn between buying a walking pad or renting a treadmill for a 2 months, it’s the same price.

I’d love to know how you are all getting on with it.

Catheee · 19/11/2024 22:35

Wrong thread sorry.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 09/12/2024 15:25

Just wondering if you all carried on with this or if it became a fad?

Blondeissimo · 09/12/2024 19:16
