Food ideas before early gym

Hi, twice a week I go to the gym at 7am, getting up at 6.30. I can get a bit lightheaded if I don't eat something so I often have half a banana. I'm a bit bored of this, also I don't always have them in. Are there any other ideas? Must not need prep as I'm in a rush. And I'm a vegetarian. Thanks!

Hard boiled egg.
Cottage cheese with maybe a few seeds sprinkled through it.
Yogurt topped with a few nuts and/or berries
Oats soaked overnight

All of these options need prep but can be done the evening before. Even something like oatcakes can be buttered and have a bit of cheese put on top of them and will come to no harm overnight if you don't even want to do that level of prep in the morning.

Great ideas, might try the egg or the oatcakes

I have an egg, it gives me energy and doesn't make me feelk bloated or sick if I exercise soon after.

I have a handful of plain nuts and a coffee!

I used to eat a few Brazil nuts

It's probably not the best thing but I tend to have a small cereal bar if I eat anything before early morning exercise. I tend to just do weights in the early morning sessions and can manage that without eating before. Rice cakes and peanut butter is a good option too.

Small bowl of Cheerios with milk!

Can't beat a bowl of porridge before going to the gym.

NotFastButFurious · 04/01/2024 14:12

@Parky04 if I ate a bowl of porridge I'd need 2 hours to digest it before hitting the gym!! 💩

xsquared · 04/01/2024 17:02

Peanut butter on bagel.

Skippy02 · 04/01/2024 17:06

I tend to have a couple of oatcakes with some honey and a coffee. Or a whole banana with a coffee. Oats and things like overnight oats are better for a recovery meal, so think things like eggs, peanut butter, honey, berries, banana, smoothie (can be prepped in the fridge night before for speed!) are digested quickly and will give you quick releasing energy that will fuel your workout.

Thanks to everyone

I would just have a biscuit or two. Or maybe a rice krispy square! I find I need easily digestible carbs (and caffeine!) before an early session.

OldestSister · 04/01/2024 22:46

I'd throw up if I had anything proper, so a couple of Brazil.nuts sounds perfect

rainbowbee · 04/01/2024 23:44

I can't eat much very early, but if I do an early morning class I would have a small portion of smoothie (I just buy the cartons rather than faffing making), or I would buy some yoghurt-coated nuts from the health shop and have a few of those.
