Garmin / Polar watches?

Hi all,

Thinking of buying DS a fitness tracker device for Xmas - either a Polar or Garmin? Issue is however, he has a lovely analogue watch that I bought him years ago that he loves and he'd not want to replace it with a sports watch.

Is there a fitness tracker watch that is quite discreet and/or you can change the screen so it doesn't actually show the time (weird, I know!)

I have looked at Oura Ring and Whoop as viable options but the monthly ongoing subscription really puts me off.

Thank you!

does he need a GPS function?

What's he likely to use it for?
If you want to count steps or sleep and total calorie burn then you really need it to be worn all day, but if it's only for exercise activities then could he not just swap watches?

My DS has a Garmin he wears only for running. Yes he misses out on some of the metrics but really he's only interested in distance/pace/mileage/HR and the upload to Strava of course!
If it's only being used for exercise the basic Forerunner models are absolutely fine as no point paying more for functions you won't use.

This is what I have. It's fab, and you can get leather straps too

DH wears his garmin on one wrist and watch on the other for this reason.
