Wide fitting running shoes

Onewildandpreciouslife · 20/10/2023 08:13

I have very wide feet. I had a pair of New Balance 1080 Fresh Foam in a wide fitting, which I loved, but they don’t seem to do the wide fitting any more.

My current shoes are ASICS 25 Nimbus, but I made a mistake and should have got a bigger size.

I wanted to go back to New Balance but as they’ve stopped doing wide fitting I’m stuck.

Any recommendations? I’m told I’m neutral

Hoka do a wide fit.

Athrawes · 20/10/2023 08:19

Altra are the most accommodating shoes I have found.

Brooke Ghosts do a wide fit. I tried the men's and they are so comfortable.

Emanresu9 · 20/10/2023 08:23

I buy the men’s’ they’re always wider

MintJulia · 20/10/2023 08:28

My feet are size 7.5. I buy Asics men's size 8, they are perfectly comfortable for me and have lasted much longer than the ladies Asics I had before.

Brooks Adrenaline have a wide fit. Great for running.

drspouse · 20/10/2023 08:32

Try widefitshoes.co.uk. They sell New Balance in different widths.

CMOTDibbler · 20/10/2023 08:32

On Cloudstratus are very wide, or I wear Hoka wide fit. Dh likes Brooks Ghost wide

ShinyHatStand · 20/10/2023 08:34

Depends
Are they wide along the whole length? Or just wide across the ball of the foot & toe area?
If the latter then Altras are your new best friend. If the former then a wide fit of a more conventionally shaped shoe.

AuntieStella · 20/10/2023 08:34

Try the men's range - they're usually made on a wider last

Yep I’m a big wide footed woman and these are great for me, first woman’s running shoes I’ve been able to buy as normally accept it’s the men’s I’m trying on!

Second vote for Hoka
I have wide feet, especially across the ball, and a high instep too.
These are wide fitting and really comfy.
Reviews say they come up a little small, so I ordered half a size up (normally a 7.5 and got an 8) and they fit well.

Another vote here for Brooks Ghost in men's, great shoes

NotFastButFurious · 20/10/2023 09:50

Altra say they aren't wide shoes, they're "foot shaped" but they were too wide for my barge like feet and people I know with wider, deeper feet swear by them. But, they have a zero heel drop so don't suit everyone and you need to break them in gradually or your achilles might protest!
Brooks wide fit and Hoka are definitely worth trying, or men's models.

florenceandthemac · 20/10/2023 11:59

I have On Cloudflyer wide fit

Harrysmummy246 · 22/10/2023 16:13

I've always just assumed i'm going to need men's running shoes (and steel toe caps for work for that matter)
