Hiking boots and leggings recommendations

I've been a hiker on and off for twenty years! Three Peaks, Jurassic Coast etc etc! However, since having a child I've gone on a bit of a hiatus. I've signed up for a hill walking challenge next year and am looking for some light weight, waterproof walking boot recommendations that won't break the bank!

Also, any good hiking legging recommendations much appreciated!

FYI I'm 40/f xx thanks in advance

I like Revolution race and ACAI (trousers) for hiking stuff. Have fun!

Our local Cotswold shop has lots of boots to try on and one of those fake walking boulder type footpaths inthe shop to try them out. More recently i actually prefer walking in my trail running shoes they have good grip and lighter weight but no ankle support like a boot would, so I guess it depends what foot / ankle support you need.

I second Acai for walking clothes.

For boots, invest a bit of time in trying a few pairs on and seeing how they fit. Different manufacturers use different lasts - even within their own range - which suit different peoples feet. Eg: Salomon make great boots, but they are too straight for my curvy feet, and rip them to shreds, begs in all the wrong places, create hit spots DH can wear them straight from the box! .

Still would go for Skechers as they are so so lightweight . I’ve got 2 pairs of waterproof ones and 3 pairs of walking boots. All bought from QVC. They do a 60 day money back guarantee, so you can wear them and try them before you decide. It’s an excellent way of seeing if they are right for you.
