Decided I'm upping my running distance - 2024 plans!

I'm a fairly seasoned half marathon runner and have gone past that a few times, my longest run is just over 18 miles. I'm not sure I want to do a road marathon but I want to do a trail Ultra! Ran with a running buddy today and we've decided to enter day 2 of Race to the Stones and probably Run to the Sea Bournemouth next year. I know I'll need to do a Spring marathon and I'm really excited to have a challenge!

Sounds brilliant - I love trail running. Do you have a training plan? Do you run much on the trails now? I find it’s a very different experience to road running. Much slower but I find it less competitive and more enjoyable. Events like race to the stones are more of a moving picnic than eyes down, keep running like some road events.

I've done a bit of trail running and I love it, I'm in Swindon so have been doing the National Trust Avebury 10k over the summer. My running club have done some guided trail runs as well. I've spent ages today looking at training plans, they seem to be up to 30 weeks long which seems really long, but I'll see what my friend is planning as well, she's done a few marathons.

I love the more relaxed feel of a trail run but we do want to do ourselves proud!
